CANCER RESEARCH CONCERT

Post date: Dec 19, 2016 11:21:35 AM

Sunday the 18th of December was the date for our annual Christmas Concert, which again was held in the Parish church in Pickering. It was a rather special occasion this year as the band have now supported the Yorkshire Cancer charity for 50 years.
Our guest artist was local singer/songwriter David Swann who entertained us in his own unique way.
Among the many items featured during the program were Emmy Lou Harris' 'Mister Sandman' arranged as a cornet trio & performed by our three young cornetists, Chloe, Jennie & Steph. We also included a vocal item sung by Beth who was then joined by sister Lauren for a vocal/cornet duet in O Holy Night.
Jack Magson was awarded the trophy for most improved junior player with Chloe Brown receiving the most improved player in the senior band. The 'Player Of The Year' award went to Ian Ahearn our 'one-man bass section'. Lisa Henson was presented with the award for work behind the scenes.
Certificates were presented to Ian for his 25 years service, and to Mike Breckon for his 50 years with the band.
Ticket sales & donations amounted to £589.
Thank you everyone for your support, both this year & over the preceding years.
