SPRING CONCERT 2017

Post date: Mar 27, 2017 10:05:36 AM

Our Spring Concert at Pickering's Memorial Hall was held on Saturday March 25th. A larger than usual audience squeezed in to the hall to enjoy an evening of music by the band, the training band & members of Pickering Junior School brass class.
The band began with the Intermezzo from the Karelia Suite by Sibelius, followed by Beethoven's Romance. Our 3 young cornetists were in action next with Mr Sandman. Well done Chloe, Jenny 'n' Steph. After a rendition of The Floral Dance the first set ended with Mack The Knife.
Our guests from the Junior School who are trained by Jeannette Kendal were on next. They played different styles of music accompanied by backing tracks. There was even one young man brave enough to stand up & play a solo. Well done to you all!
The training band who have only been playing together since the start of the year performed a number of pieces including Oranges & Lemons, the Can Can & another version of The Floral Dance. After this there were 2 tunes performed by the 'old' junior band.
After tea & cakes everyone played together in the finale. Can You Feel The Love Tonight was followed by Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (complete with car horn). The evening concluded with a rendition of Deep Harmony.
Many thanks to Jeanette & her pupils, band members young 'n' old & everyone who attended for supporting us once again.
