1918

1st September 2018

What a brilliant night we had at the Kirk Theatre on Saturday Sept 1st. The theme for the concert entitled 1918, celebrated the events, births & deaths of the last year of The Great War.
The program began with the RAF March Past, Out Of The Blue, then the hymn For All The saints, followed by Jerusalem.
Our guest soloist Rachel Anderson sang two songs- I'm Always Chasing Rainbows & Somewhere.
There was a surprise in store for the audience as Lauren took up the baton to conduct the next item, Georgia On My Mind played by Mike as a cornet solo. We ended the first half with music from the film Laurence Of Arabia.
After the interval the men of the band accompanied the girls & Rachel as they sang the March Of The Women marching on to the stage waving banners. Rachel then sang Sister Suffragette, followed by Wouldn't It Be Lovely.
We followed with Bells Across The Meadow & Mansions Of The Lord. To conclude the concert everyone joined in with Land Of Hope And Glory.
Throughout the evening our friends from Whitby Amature Dramatic Society had performed poetry & sketches from the period.
All this was ably linked by our compere for the evening, Katrina Stead.
Thank you everyone for a terrific night of entertainment.
